Dr. Jack Richard Moore

DR. JACK RICHARD MORRE, 77, of Stagecoach Rd. Somerset, died unexpectedly on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2004. Jack was born March 12, 1926 in Akron, the son of the late Mathew Mark and Glenna Marie Newman Moore. He was a member of the Somerset American Legion Leo Ryan Post 58; a WWII Navy Veteran, achieving the rank of Quartermaster First Class. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Kent state University, and his Doctorate from Bowling Green State University, where he also taught for two years. He started teaching in 1949 at Coshocton High School and then taught in the Cleveland area at four different school districts, where he was a coach, teacher, principal and superintendent. In 1970 he came to Lancaster High School where he was principal, then in 1972 was principal at Lima Sr. High School, and following that, was superintendent in the Cleveland area. He was in education for 37 years before retiring in 1983. During 22 of those years, he was statistician for the cleveland Browns. In 1985 he discovered the joy and love of raising and living with Llamas. He shared this passion with all he met. He was a charter member and frst president of the Ohio Llama Association. In 1987 he started the Ohio State Fair Llama and Alpaca Show, which is the longest running Llama show in existance. He was the current president of the International Llama Registary. He will be missed tremndously by his wife and best friend of 31 years, whom he married February 16, 1973, Donna D. Householder Moore of the home; two Stover of rushville and Sandy (Steve) Blanchard of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Erin, Abby, Josh, Justin, Tyler, and Alex; one sister, Evajean Greenlun of Akron. in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Moore of Akron.
