
Robert N. Benninghoff
ROBERT N. BENNINGHOFF of Columbus died suddenly Friday, July 30, 2004 at The Village at Westerville Nursing Center. Born June 9, 1926 in Greenville, PA. Retired from Cleveland State University where he worked as a Reference Librarian. Previously taught mathematics and coached swimming at Fairview Park Schools. Graduate of Thiel College, Western Reserve University and Indiana University. Preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Benninghoff and mother Anna May Tillitson. Veteran served in the United States Air Force. Member of Gender Road Christian Church and Columbus Ohio Primetimers. Bob pursued an active role in research and activities aimed at preservation of Civil War Battlefield. Bob volunteered at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital Stonewall Columbus, and Gender Road Christian Church and was an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan. Bob was a lifelong devotee of running and jogging and was a member of The Westerville Recreation Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 7 at 10 a.m. at Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Road Canal Winchester, OH. Pastor Kay McGlinchey officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Picnic Shelter Fund of Gender Road Church, a pet project of Mr. Benninghoff. Burial will be in Greenville, PA at a later date.
